Trophy Small Mouth Bass!

Well, these are the biggest small mouth bass I have ever caught. They are also the biggest small mouth bass I have ever SEEN!

The funniest part is I live in an area in NW Ontario that holds an annual *Bass Fishing Tournament* on our local lake. These bass of mine were not caught in that lake but not really very far from it!

Just ONE of these small mouthed bass - weighing in at 8.2 pounds! would literally beat the 5 limit catch weight for the day for those Pro fishermen!! LOL!!

So - Pro's - EAT your Hearts out! You Gotta Love this -- No matter HOW envious you may be! :}

Fishing Lures are, in my opinion, Highly Over Rated!!! You are either going to catch bass or you are not and changing lures all day isn't going to change that fact. I caught this big bass with a yellow popper. The only lure I had brought with me as the point of going into this lake was to cut trail, not fish!

We hiked in to this little lake to cut a trail. With that done and at the end of the portage, there was the little boat with a solar-powerd electric motor one it. I was standing high up on a rock and while stringing my rod and the popper was floating in the lake near the rock, BAM! Bass grabbed it! I yanked it back and saved my lure!

Then the coolest thing happened. The water began to swirl all around and these little fish; some type of minnows I guessed, started to jump and like fly through the air! All the while the water swirling, swirling, swirling...I'm like "WOOOHOO! I gotta get my line in!"

So I did and was playing with the bass as Deano (my companion) was getting the boat ready. (He just KNEW I would want to go out!) Yes, he knows me pretty well!

All I'd brought with me was a cheap telescope rod and ONE lure! A popper. That's IT! If I had lost that lure...(but I didn't!) and so began the adventure of the week!

This particular day was some what windy, sun shining, fairly warm; early summer.

I caught 6 small mouth bass that day in about 1 hour. Many were on my line and doing their famous jumps; leaping out of the water and dazzling me. I was really laughing in delight. :}

OK, for those of you who don't fish Bass, you have NO idea what you are missing first of all. This may not look like a monster to you as other fish get so much bigger, but a 4 to 5 pound small mouth bass is BIG.

There is, in my opinion, NO other sport fishing that is more fun because of the action. They way they jump and dance; dive down and run! It is super exciting fun!

I'm not much of a fisher-woman and even though I live in the best place for it, I just rarely go out fishing - so this day really made my whole summer complete!
