Stealing Mobile Phones in Action

IMEI numbers & Registering your property

My mobile phone has been stolen! What do I do now?

The first thing you need to do is to block your number across every network.

To block your lost or stolen mobile phone across every network, call your own network provider operator (service provider) or phone 08701 123 123 and report it and have it dis-abled.

It is helpful to write down and store safely your IMEI number on each phone in your household. Don't worry if you did not do this and you don't know your IMEI number.

Your mobile handset can still be blocked without it. That is probably your main concern. So whom ever has the phone cannot use it and run up a huge bill on it under your name.

Your other main concern will probably be the information stored in the phone itself. So getting the phone dis-abled as soon as possible - along with the ability of some companies to *shut it down* *might* help in that regard as well. Keep reading for this for information on what to do.

IMEI numbers are located on a stripe normally right behind the battery of the handset. On most handsets.

Handy Tip: press the keys *#06# and the IMEI number will be displayed in the handset window.

This is a very helpful tip if you still have your phone and don't know the IMEI number... so now you have it!

The main relevant contact numbers in these situations are:

==============================================

Contract Accounts Pre-paid Accounts

Orange Contact 07973 100 150 07973 100 451

Vodafone Contact 07836 191 191 08700 776 655

O2 Contact Line 08705 214 000 08705 678 678

T-Mobile Contact 0845 412 5000 0845 412 5000

Virgin Mobile Contact 0845 6000 0845 6000 789

3 Contact 07782 333 333 07782 333 333

Onetel Contact 0800 957 1100 0800 957 1100

Please also contact your local police department or the police station nearest to where the theft or loss happened and inform them of what has occurred to the best of your recollection..

If you have mobile phone insurance, you now should get ahold of your Insurance company provider to report the loss or the theft. Don't wait to do this and again, provide as much information as possible.

I also highly recommend you contact this place. At Immobilise you can create a FREE and PRIVATE portfoliao of all your valuables and personal property..

If your stuff is then lost or stolen, use Immobilise to tell law enforcement. Also tell your insurer, and the second-hand trade to assist in recovering your property and catch the thief.

If you have lost an item of property, or have had an item of property stolen, please tell them. By doing that, you make the information viewable by all the UK Police forces via their own computer systems, nd by the second-hand trade and public via Check MEND (the UK's national second hand stolen property database.).  There is checkMEND for other companie too.  It is supposed to be the world's largest database with over 40 billion serial numbered items of property with information.   This is Very relevant to purchasers of used goods on sites like ebay.

If you have already registered on Immobilise the item or items concerned then simply log into your account and tag them as lost or stolen. This only takes a few moments. If the items are not already recorded with them, create an account and add the item and then report it as stolen or lost.
